Years of
Service
When
M.J. Chapin established an
abstract service in 1872, he began
what is now one of
the oldest continuously
operated businesses in Grayson County.
M.J.
Chapin laid the foundation of
the firm that is now know as Chapin Title Company. The Company began its operation in a small
room in the Grayson County
Courthouse in 1872. Through
the years, the business has changed
location several times, with its main
office now located at 620 North Travis Street in Sherman.
In
1990, the Company acquired Tone Abstract Company of
Denison, which was also established in 1872.
Throughout the early years, the companies operated
under a gentlemen's agreement
that Tone Abstract would work properties in the
northern one-half of Grayson County, and Chapin
Abstract would work properties in the
southern one-half of Grayson County. The
merging of these two companies enabled them
to combine their title plants
and knowledge of the county which had been
so complementary through the years. The
office in Denison moved to a new location
at 2617 W. Morton in March of 1999.
In 2006, the office has relocated to 3515 FM 120, Ste 103 in
Denison.
In
May, 1998, Chapin Title Company was
purchased by Phil and Ruth Adams of
Gainesville, Texas. Phil and Ruth own several
other title companies in the north Texas area and
Chapin is pleased to be a member of the Adams Title
Companies group.
March 3, 2003, Chapin Title Company celebrated the opening of
their new office location in Pottsboro, Texas.
August, 2003, marks another celebration for Chapin Title
Company with the opening of another office located in
Whitesboro, Texas. February 2006 marks the relocation of
Chapin Title Company's Whitesboro Branch to a new location
in Whitesboro located at 810 N Union, Ste 601 to better
serve you.
June, 2004 Chapin Title Company continues to expand with the
opening of the new branch office to better serve you in
Sherman, Texas located at 3429 FM 1417 N
January, 2007
marks another milestone at Chapin Title Company. A new
branch has been opened in the Sherman Town Center to support
the continued growth in the Sherman
area.
Chapin Title Company is proud to be selected as the winner of the "Best
Title Company in Texoma" for 2008.
Through
this heritage and commitment
to service which was established in
1872, Chapin Title Company will continue to serve the
citizens of Grayson County for years to come.

Company has the
most extensive real
estate records in Grayson
County. Additionally, Chapin Title
Company was the first title company in Grayson County to
utilize computer technology for the indexing and
organization of these records in order
to provide faster and more efficient service.

Grayson County. Through the strength
